Honours Overview

Description

Honours in Statistics will provide the knowledge and tools necessary to solve complex statistical problems of a theoretical or applied nature. Good research skills will be developed, along with the communication skills required to present the results of your work to colleagues and to companies, institutions and collaborators.

Outcomes

Students are able to (1) apply statistical reasoning to analyse the essential structure of problems arising in areas of mathematics; (2) apply their knowledge of mathematical and statistical techniques and transfer solutions to different situations; and (3) Describe and demonstrate statistical results in written and verbal form.

Entry requirements

Completion of a Bachelor of Mathematics degree or equivalent. The equivalent of a UWA weighted average mark of at least 70% in the Level 3 units of extended Mathematics major (MJD-EMATH). Students should have a formal agreement with an academic staff member/s to supervise their research project.

Intake periods

Beginning of year and mid-year
