- Description
This unit is the second of the two units, STAT4001 and STAT4002, which are taken in successive semesters, and jointly comprise the research project that must be completed to fulfill the requirements for the Honours course in Statistics. Students work on their research project, which is a continuation of the research project they have worked on in STAT4001.

- Outcomes
Students are able to (1) plan and organise a research-based project on a statistical topic (selected in conjunction with a supervisor); (2) explain the context and significance of the agreed project with reference to the relevant literature; (3) prepare high-quality and well-structured mathematical documents in Latex; (4) communicate research findings effectively both on paper and in oral presentations; (5) apply mathematical and statistical reasoning to analyse the structure of problems arising in areas of statistics ; and (6) employ the knowledge of mathematical and statistical techniques to different situations.
- Assessment
Indicative assessments in this unit are as follows: (1) project progress report and a practice talk completed in STAT4001; (2) presentation; and (3) dissertation. Further information is available in the unit outline.
Supplementary assessment is not available in this unit.
