Description

This unit develops students' ability to use prescriptive analytics and AI applications for business analytics to address complex strategic business problems under conditions of uncertainty. Students learn how to frame strategic business questions, select appropriate analytical approaches, and communicate evidence-based recommendations to managerial audiences. Students work with contemporary business datasets and digital tools to interpret patterns, evaluate alternative courses of action, assess model assumptions and limitations, and translate evidence into actionable strategic recommendations.

Outcomes

Students are able to (1) frame complex strategic business problems as analytical questions, identify relevant data, and justify appropriate analytical approaches; (2) select appropriate AI applications and workflows for strategic analysis; (3) apply forecasting, classification, segmentation, scenario analysis, optimisation, and simulation to evaluate business and management decisions; (4) evaluate the assumptions, limitations, risks, and managerial implications of analytical models and AI-assisted outputs in business contexts

; and (5) communicate evidence-based and actionable strategic recommendations to managerial audiences.

Assessment

Indicative assessments in this unit are as follows: (1) individual brief; (2) group project; and (3) final case analysis. Further information is available in the unit outline.
