Unit Overview

Description

This unit may be undertaken on either a full-time or part-time basis as part of the Master of Philosophy (MPhil) program.

The MPhil consists of an independent, supervised research program assessed solely through the submission of a thesis.

The research presented for the degree must constitute a substantial and original contribution to scholarship, demonstrating both mastery of the chosen field and a significant advancement of knowledge within that discipline.

Candidates are required to submit a written research proposal within six months of commencement.

The thesis (50,000 words) must be presented in typescript format, unless otherwise approved for alternative examination requirements. It should provide a comprehensive investigation of the chosen topic and make a substantial and original contribution to knowledge. The thesis should also demonstrate relevance to professional practice by extending theoretical foundations into practical applications in education.
