Unit Overview

Description

This individual case study project in minerals and energy comprises a suitable research task equivalent to one Master of Business Administration unit, undertaken specifically for this purpose under the guidance of an assigned supervisor. The research normally follows a proposed case study topic agreed in collaboration with the supervisor and approved by the MBA Coordinator. It is then documented in a research report, not exceeding 10,000 words.

Outcomes

Students are able to (1) develop and refine research skills in a way that will assist the undertaking of business related research projects; (2) develop practical analytical skills to address a specific business or industry issue; and (3) develop skills in summarising key issues and the presentation of recommendations.

Assessment

Indicative assessments in this unit are as follows: (1) report – executive summary & introduction; (2) report – case study analysis; and (3) report – conclusions, recommendations, areas for further research. Further information is available in the unit outline.
