Description

This unit allows Computer Science students to gain credit for supervised projects in working situations in the public and private sectors. It supports students to apply, enhance, and develop generic and/or specific skills gained through their Computer Science studies in an industry context. It offers students access to professional responsibilities, participation in group and/or independent problem-solving scenarios, and exposure to workplace practices and communication (written and oral). It also supports students to articulate their skills and experience for employment contexts.

Outcomes

Students are able to (1) apply technical, communication and interpersonal skills to a working situation; (2) demonstrate a high level of initiative and the ability to work independently where required; (3) create a proposal and final report with the approval of the host supervisor; (4) perform tasks set by an employer to a high standard; and (5) critically reflect on experience in the workplace.

Assessment

Indicative assessments in this unit are as follows: (1) work placement hours and timesheets; (2) reflection report; and (3) career planning activities. Further information is available in the unit outline.



This unit is assessed on an ungraded pass/ungraded failed basis. All assessment items must be successfully completed.

Student may be offered supplementary assessment in this unit if they meet the eligibility criteria.
