Minor Overview

About this minor

The Landscape and Designed Ecologies minor is designed to introduce students to the techniques and practice of landscape design, management and ecology as they relate to the built environment. The minor provides a scaffolded sequence of interrelated learning opportunities. At Level 1, students develop foundational graphical and analytical representation skills. At Levels 2 and 3, students apply increasingly advanced understandings of designed ecologies through studies in landscape systems, planting design and landscape management.

Outcomes
Students are able to (1) apply a range of theoretical, historical and precedent relating to landscape and the built environment; (2) integrate ecological thinking in relation to landscape design and planning; (3) demonstrate knowledge of critical plant species and their application; and (4) communicate landscape and planning proposals and idea through graphical and written forms.
